Subject:  Is wanting to reach enlightment a realistic goal?

Great Answer! Thanks.

I disagreed with the thinking that it will be easier to reach enlightment in the future. The advance in technology doesn't mean less distraction. Most people works 10-12 hours a day, plus all of the worries of daily live. The world is moving toward the idea of functioning 24/7 everyday of the week. Kids are growing up attached to this materialistic world, how would it be easier for them to give up everything versus the previous generation? Is it easier to ask kids 10 years ago not to watch TV versus now?

You cannot be free of all worldly sins if you are in this world, this society, and this body at this time.

Even if you could see the light from outside the prison walls, it doesn't change the fact the you're trapped.
