Mr. Kha Nguyen, First of all, I would like to commend you for your great effort to try to spread our Buddhist faith in this land, U.S.A. Your action is admirable and every Buddhist should join you in that endeavor. But this is a tremendous task and requires a lot of thoughtful planning. I dont know how long you have planned and prepared for your ambition; if not, then I suggest you take a little more time to consider some of my following suggestions: 1) Have you consisdered contacting Ven. Thich Nhat Hanh and his Plum Village monks and nuns? Based on what I've read they have taught classes and given Dharma talks here in America every year. I've never attended their classes or talks because I dont live where they teach. There is no doubt they'll help you. 2) The task you're trying to do, I believe, have been done by many well-known organizations or Buddhist temples both here and abroad. Many Zen or Theravada temples, headed by Western Buddhist priests; monks; or nuns, have spread Buddhism in America for years. Many well-known Japanese, Chinese, Tibetan, Sri Lankans, Thai, Vietnamese, and Western monks have taught here for over 60 years. Mahabodhi Society have been sponsoring monks for missionary work al over the world. I suggest you make contact with them. I hope you'll succeed in your task. Nam Mo A Di Da Phat. P.S. Please forgive me of using English. I dont have the Vietnamese font. I dont know Vien Chu Chua Viet Nam and dont even know where Chua Viet Nam is. |
